Sue Jane Lay, 68 year old Vinita resident, died Sunday April 25, 2010 at her home surrounded by family. She was born February 1, 1942 in Vinita to Albert and Esther (Chamberlain) Schwartz. Sue married Jim Lay on August 15, 1965. She worked as a secretary in vocational rehabilitation for 36 years, with the Department of Human Services. Sue was a member of the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, and a member of the Church Women's Guild. She loved her family, cooking for gatherings, and was known for her constant and never ending devotion to her children. She also loved animals, adopting strays and caring for them. The family includes: her husband Jim Lay of the home, two children, Bryan Lay and Connie Cunningham of Vinita and Alluwe, Brent Lay and wife Kelli of Oklahoma City; brothers, A. R. "Buddy" Schwartz and wife Pat of Mesquite, Texas, Joe Schwartz of Monkey Island, George and wife Mary Jo Schwartz of Mustang, Johnnie and wife Mona Sue Schwartz of Vinita, Larry and wife Scarlet Schwartz of Rome, Georgia; Aunts Florence and Geneva; three grandchildren, Amber Leann Lay of Alluwe, Avery Kathryn Lay and Alice Jane Lay of Oklahoma City. Family preceding her in death includes her parents, sisters Loyce Anderson, Cleta Schwartz and brother James Schwartz. The rosary will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Chapel in Vinita. The funeral mass will be held Wednesday April 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Vinita, with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Interment will follow at the Pheasant Hill Cemetery north of Vinita. Arrangements are by the Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
