Terry Whitfield

Terry Irwin Whitfield, age 67 of Vinita, died November 19, 2011. Terry was born in Vinita on August 23, 1944 to Henry Whitfield Sr. and Dora (Han) Whitfield. He attended Grove High School where he was a talented football player. His talents on the field earned him a scholarship to the Oklahoma Military Academy. He was also enlisted in the Army National Guard. Terry enjoyed many things such as collecting and trading antiques, camping, hunting and fishing. He also cherished the moments he had with his grandchildren. He will be missed by his daughters Patricia Yelverton and husband Shane, Pam Sparks and husband Craig, sisters Wanda Flood and husband Gene Paul, Dorothy Donavon, Linda Collins, brothers: C. S. Whitfield and wife Jannette, Bob Whitfield, and Jimmy Whitfield and wife Marilyn, 8 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by Janet Whitfield with whom he shared 40 years of life and love with as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Juanita Gagat, Mary Alice Bates, Nancy Owens, brothers: J.D. Whitfield, Henry Whitfield Jr., and infant granddaughter Brittany Sparks. Pallbearers will be Shane Yelverton, Craig Sparks, Michael Freeman, Buddy Owens, Chucky Whitfield, Kenneth Secrist, and Wesley Moore. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Hensley, Jimmy Whitfield, C. S. Whitfield, Bob Whitfield, and Gene Paul Flood. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at the Luginbuel Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Luginbuel Chapel with Pastor Bruce Yelverton officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
