Lee Hillburn, 83-year-old Bartlesville resident passed away Wenesday, May 28, 2008 at his home. Funeral services for Mr. Hillburn will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Bartlesville. Interment will follow in the Bartlesville Memorial Park Cemetery. The family has asked those who choose to send memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, remember the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. On-line condolences can be left for the family at www.honoringmemories.com. Lee Hillburn was born September 18, 1924 in Amarillo, Texas to Lee Hillburn and Olah Smith-Hillburn. He graduated from Whitedeer High School in Texas and went on to serve his country in the 10th Mountain Division of United States Army during WWII. He was decorated with the Purple Heart and with the Bronze Star for his service. Upon returning from his service, Mr. Hillburn enrolled at the University of Oklahoma where he received his Bachelor's Degree in Physics and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He married Charlotte Hensley on October 21, 1943. She would later precede him in death on September 12, 1965. Mr. Lilburn later married June Davis on October 30, 1976 in Bartlesville. Mr. Hillburn worked as a Fluid Measurement Specialist for Phillips Petroleum for several years until his retirement in 1985. After retiring, Mr. Hillburn started a consulting firm called Turnbow Engineering which he operated for many years until his health recently prevented him from continuing. Mr. Hillburn was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for several years, as well as for the Jane Phillips Medical Center and for the City of Bartlesville. He was active in numerous business and professional organizations throughout his working career. Mr. Hillburn also loved traveling. He took countless trips around the world for both work and pleasure. Mr. Hillburn is survived his wife June of the home; by a son Richard Hillburn and his wife Tammie of Elgin, Kansas; by three daughters, Myrna and her husband Jim Clifford of Knobnoster, Missouri, Vicky and her husband Mike Elias of Stillwater, and Kelly and her husband Jeff Jones of Bartlesville; by one step-son, Gregg Gardner and his wife Fran of Zena, Oklahoma; by 11 grandchildren, Stacy Buschlak, Barbara Nordhausen, Amy McCarty, Austin Clifford, Amber Clifford-Napoleone, Michael Elias, Jr., Dustin Elias, Arthur Elias, Cameron Elias, Lindsey Jones, and Tristan Jones; by 11 great-grandchildren; by one nephew; and by two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; by his first wife Charlotte; by two brothers, Arlon Hillburn and Dalton Hillburn; and by one sister, Nita Hillburn.
