Theodore Lee Tiffany was born on July 11, 1932 in Georgetown, New York to Lois Margaret Van Avery and Rev. Fred Robert Tiffany. He passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Theodore lived in Watertown, New York and New York City, and graduated from high school in Pontiac, Michigan. He graduated from Kalamazoo College in Michigan, and received a Master of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1959. He earned the Professional Diploma and Student Personnel Worker from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City in 1969. Mr. Tiffany served honorably in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958 at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri and Ft. Ord, California. He was married to Deborah Fixter. Mr. Tiffany was an instructor in Philosophy and Psychology, Registrar, and Counselor at junior colleges in Illinois and Rhode Island, and an Assistant Dean of Students (Advisor to Student Government and Director of the College Center) at Paterson State Teachers College in New Jersey. He served as assistant to the Provost of Teachers College, Columbia University, New York City, while pursuing advanced graduate studies. Mr. Tiffany lived in Riverside, California for 27 years, becoming licensed as a Marriage, Family and Child Counselor serving in private practice there. A second career in horticulture followed as a California Certified Nurseryman, studying botany and working at several nurseries in California. Mr. Tiffany moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma in 1997, having been attracted by the quality of life, including the amazing cultural opportunities. He enjoyed maintaining several gardens and volunteering at the Community Center and the OK Mozart Festival. He was interested in encouraging student musicians, especially through the OK Mozart Music Education Program and the "Echoes of Bartlesville Concert", both of which he was instrumental in initiating. Theodore was a member of Musical Research Society and the Green Country Garden Club. He was an active and grateful member of the spiritual fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1978. Theodore was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ellen Ann Tiffany and Donna Marie Etherington; nephews, Fred Barney and Ricky Etherington. He is survived by nieces, Barbara Couch of California and Kim Sullivan of Iowa. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Arnold Moore Funeral Home Chapel.
