Soloman Thomas Blessing, 82 years old of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012. Tom was born on December 15, 1929 in Champaign, Illinois, to Sam Blessing and Edna Mae (Garner) Williams. He was raised in Texarkana, Texas. Tom enlisted in the United States Navy and wanted to be a pilot, but was color blind so he became a radioman instead. He served during the Korean War. Tom met his first wife Dolores in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they were married in 1953. Tom worked for Douglas Aircraft and for Rockwell, then for Sperry Rand/ Vickers and Tulsa Products. Tom married Judy Rowden on June 27, 1993 at the First Christian Church. Tom was a member of the First Christian Church since 1985. He had served at Osage Hills Christian Church in Tulsa. Tom was a member of the Grand Lake Sailing Club and built his own sailboat. Tom golfed and enjoyed baseball and football. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scoutmaster, and a Gideon and had a ministry at Cookson Hills. He also taught bible class. Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Blessing and a son, Timothy Blessing. Tom is survived by his wife Judy Blessing of the home; three daughters, Lorna Vann and husband Jason of Carl Junction, Missouri, Deborah Wilson and husband Paul of Joplin, Missouri, and Fonda Jackson of Overland Park, Kansas; one sister, Betty Jane Thompson of Magnolia, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Memorial Services for Tom will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church in Grove, Oklahoma. Rev. Wayne Shaw will officiate.
