Thomas Wesley Cheatham, 63, of Grove, Oklahoma lost his difficult battle with cancer on December 11, 2008. born June 6, 1945 in Eustis, Florida to Elmer Huey and Ethel Canoy Frier Cheatham, Thomas spent most of his life in Eustis, Florida where he attended Bay Street Baptist Church. Thomas was a United States marine Corps veteran and had a successful career in law enforcement. Thomas was a self-employed businessman and prospered a s a custom home builder in both Florida and Oklahoma for his family.Upon retiring to Oklahoma in 1996 with wife Rory and sons Chad and Caleb, Thomas and Rory often enjoyed traveling through the United States. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Ethel, son Chad Thomas and sister Nora. He is survived by best friend and wife of 41 years Rory; son Caleb Thomas of Gillette, Wyoming; grandson Clay Cheatham of Tavares, Florida; granddaughter Cody Jo Cheatham of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; brothers Aaron (Ann) Cheatham of St. Petersburg, Florida; Paul (Diana) Cheatham of Umatilla, Florida; Susan (David) Tellin of Bradenton, Florida; aunts Vivian Johnson of Lake City, Florida; Gladys (Vance) Humphrey of Tavares, Florida; father-in-law Dale McConnell; sisters -in- law Tacy and Randy Oelke and Abby and Larry Lovett all of California as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Thomas will be deeply missed by his friends and family memebers as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 2084 South Main Street, Grove, Oklahoma 74344. Memorial services will be held for Thomas Wesley Cheatham on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma.
