Thomas Monroe Dick of Grove, Oklahoma died Friday evening, October 24, 2008 his home. He was 86. Thomas was born December 7, 1921 at Eucha, Oklahoma to Jeff and Cleo (Sanders) Dick. He was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation and a 5th Generation Delaware County resident. He graduated from Jay High School in 1940. From December 9, 1943 to June 27, 1946, he served his country as a Corporal in the Army Air Force. Thomas was the owner and operator of TMD Construction Co. and Grove Ready-Mix in Grove. He took the Grove Municipal Airport from dirt to asphalt and concrete. In 1968, Oklahoma Governor Belmon appointed Thomas as Grove City Councilman. Thomas has also been very active in the Grove Rotary Club, the Masonic Lodge, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Thomas loved to farm and he is the owner of a centennial farm, one of only two in Delaware County. Thomas also enjoyed his horses and cattle. He loved to play golf and travel with his wife Ann. On February 21, 1953, Thomas married Ann Garcia in Rabat, Morocco. She survives of the home in Grove. Additional survivors include two sons, Thomas Lee Dick and his wife Stephanie of Jay and John Paul Dick of Edmond; one brother, Tarleton Dick, Sr. and his wife Betty of Grove; three sisters, Beatrice Johnston of Grove, Naomi Jeanne Sebastian and her husband Dr. Phil Sebastian of Jay, and Carole Sue Edwards of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Patrick Dick, and Jennifer Dick both of Edmond, Jeremy Dick and his wife Shannon of Cookson, Matthew Dick and his wife Briana of Owasso, and Christopher Dick of Jay; and two great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers, William Dick and Kenneth Dick and two sisters, Jeffie McFarland and Josie Taylor. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. There will a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Grove with Reverend Randy Hamill and Dr. Dennis Deakins officiating. Burial will follow in Duffield Cemetery in Jay where the Grove Ritual Team will render Military Honors. Thomas' nephews, Dan Dick, Tarleton Dick, Jr., Clay Edwards, Jeff Edwards, Tom Robertson, Jeff McFarland, and Pierre Guillet will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leo Albro, Chuck Bullock, Dr. Dennis Deakins, Bob Henkle, Dr. Harry Halterman, and Richard Landmesser. The family suggests memorials to the American Caner Society or Good Shepherd Hospice of Grove. Memorials may be sent in care of the funeral home.
