ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Longtime Bartlesville resident and business owner, Thomas Charles Mabry, 82, passed away in Tulsa, Oklahoma, July 16, 2014 at the AMG Specialty Hospital. He was born January 16, 1932, in Briartown, Oklahoma to John Eugene and Lola (Reynolds) Mabry. Thomas was raised in the Whittaker State Home in Pryor Oklahoma, where he attended school. In 1950 he joined the United States Army serving his country during the Korean War. On May 9, 1953 Thomas married the love of his life, Virginia LaVon Thompson, in Bartlesville. He worked for the Olivetti-Underwood Corporation for several years and later was the co-owner of Bartlesville Office Supply. Thomas was very artistic and talented. He could make almost anything with his hands, whether it was woodcrafts or carving jewelry. After retirement Thomas was a handy-man working for many people around Bartlesville. He loved animals and nature and was a very good story teller. He would use stories to teach and discipline his children. He loved the outdoors and gardening was a favorite hobby. He was particularly proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage. His family descended from the First Families of the Cherokees in the United States. Thomas was a member of the Bartlesville Masonic Lodge #284. Of all that Mr. Mabry is remembered for, the love that he had for his wife, children, and family is most remembered. Each one of his family had a special place in his heart. His family and all that knew him will miss him dearly. Preceding Mr. Mabry in death are his parents, John and Lola Mabry; and siblings, Ellen Evenson, Betty House and Colleen Kosowsky. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Virginia LaVon Mabry; daughters, Joni Mabry, of Yukon, Oklahoma, Theresa Mabry, of Bartlesville, Vonda Maples and husband Andrew, of Silver City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Dylan Thomas Bergey, Lisa Roark, Ember Roark, Josh Roark, Tessie Roark, and Tommy Mabry Maples; four great grandchildren; one brother, Otis Odel Mabry; long time Masonic friend, Dennis Pipher; many other relatives, as well as a host of friends.
