Tommy Allen

Tommy L. (Blue) Allen, 56 year old Vinita resident, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born October 9, 1953 in Vinita to Lewis and Opal (Bean) Allen. He attended Vinita Public Schools, and was a 1971 graduate of Vinita High School. Tommy served in the military for four years. After receiving awards for bravery and service in the military in Viet-nam, he attended nursing school in Miami, Oklahoma receiving his Registered Nurse license in 1992 and graduated with high honors. Tommy's passion for nursing lasted many years. He was a member of the United Missionary Baptist Church. Tommy enjoyed traveling, listening to good music, a good joke, watching his Oklahoma Sooners, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion. The family includes: his wife Jennifer Allen and his children Corey and Ricki all of Caney, Kansas, other children include, Demico Allen of Muskogee, Isaac Allen of Forrest City, Arkansas, Tommy Allen Jr. of Muskogee, Kevin Allen of Vinita, Felicia Allen of Vinita; his mother Opal Love Allen of Vinita, two brothers, Ronald G. Allen of Vinita, Vincent Shawn Allen and wife Kim of Grand Haven, Michigan, four sisters, Janice (Allen) Heathcock and husband John of Vinita, Jeri Allen-Powell and husband Kenneth of Oklahoma City, Lisa Allen Daughtrey and husband Willie of Newport News, Virginia and Donna Allen of Vinita, ten grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Lewis Edward Allen, three brothers, Gary Lewis Allen, Sr., Clarence Edward Allen, Sr., Isaac Allen and his grandparents, Isaac and Lovie Bean. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita, with Rev. Farris Downing officiating.
