Truby Lamax Bowie, age 87, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, died Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Grandwood Assisted Living Center, in Grove, Oklahoma. Truby Lamax Largen was born October 17, 1924 at Maple Meadow, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Thomas Largen and Tempa (Acord) Largen. Lamax spent her childhood in West Virginia. She graduated from Trap Hill High School in Surveyor, West Virginia in 1943. She then moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she was employed with the Social Security Board until 1945. She was later employed with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1953. She worked in the Marketing, Exploration and Production departments, retiring in 1985, as a Lease Records Representative in Denver, Colorado. On February 3, 1945, Lamax was united in marriage to Richard L. Bowie in Baltimore, Maryland. They made their first home in Clovis, New Mexico, moving to Wann, Oklahoma in 1947. They moved to Aurora, Colorado in 1962, returning to Nowata, Oklahoma in 1974. They returned to Colorado in 1982, before moving to Dewey, Oklahoma in 1984. Mrs. Bowie was a member of the Bartlesville Christian Church and also a member of Jane Phillips Society and Philresters Club. Lamax was preceded in death by: her husband, Richard Bowie, Sr.; her parents; one brother and one sister. She is survived by one son, Richard (Dick) Bowie, Jr., and his wife, Linda, of Harrison, Arkansas; one grandson, James Richard Bowie and his wife, Kelly, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; three sisters, Ruby Pauley, of Charleston, West Virginia; Estelle Collins, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Stella Richardson, of Springfield, Ohio; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
