Vada Hughes

Vada Melinda Hughes, 57, of Jay, Oklahoma died Monday, August 25, 2008 at Integris Grove General Hospital. She was born March 10, 1951 in Jay, Oklahoma to Wilton Jesse Dunaway and Mary Lou Dykes Dunaway. Melinda was married to Billy Hughes on July 11, 1969 at Jay, Oklahoma. They were married for 21 years. Melinda worked for Jay Middle School for 33 years and in that time was instrumental in forming the disk for scheduling for the school system. She formed Jay USA Pact for Support Personnel and served as its president for several years. Melinda had a passion for gardening and reading and loved all of her pets like her own kids. She enjoyed spending time in her pool and was known as "Nan" to everyone that she met. She enjoyed online gaming and all of the friends that she made on line, as well as arts and crafts. Survivors include her daughter Wendy Cox and adopted daughter Gayle Archer, grand daughter Mylynne Cox, sister Donna Jean Gordon, brothers Jim Reno and wife Linda of Jay, Tim Reno and wife Toni of Jay, Don Reno and wife Brenda of Haskell, Oklahoma, nephews and nieces: Bryan Gordon and Christy, Jeremy Reno, Jyme Lynn Reno and husband Heath, J.C. Reno, Rachael Webb and husband Kenzy, Kent Reno, Rebekah Reno, Dakota Brown, Justin Walters and wife Crystal, Mary Ann Lay, great-nieces and nephews: Checotah Gordon, Ryan Clay Reno, Cali Walters, Veyda Mae Walters, Nash Walters, Bryce Lay, McKenzi Lay, Bill Reno and wife Malinda of Ketchum ,Oklahoma and Charlene Brown and husband Richard of Thomas Station, Tennessee. Funeral Services for Vada Melinda Hughes will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay. Interment will follow at Eucha Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27 at the Funeral Home.
