Velta Roberts

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Jay, OK (918) 253-3222 ~ Velta Lucille (Elam) Roberts, 97 year old resident of Jay, OK, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Monroe Manor. Velta was born on November 6, 1920, in Beggs, OK. She was the daughter of James Robert and Edith Malinda (Jennings) Elam. After graduating from high school, Velta was united in marriage to Vestel Roberts in 1944. She worked as a waitress at many restaurants including the Home Café in Jay. Velta was a member of the Eastern Star. Velta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Ronda Sue Roberts, four sisters; Marie Elam, Wilma Gene, Roberta Durham and Liddy Bushyhead and a brother, Arthur G. Elam. She is survived by her son Vestal Roberts and his wife Nancy of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, four grandchildren; Bradley, Andrea, Kathy and Kenneth and seven great grandchildren, and her brother Robert Elam. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at 11:00 am at Olympus Cemetery in Grove, OK.
