Vern Tomlinson, 85-year-old former Nowata resident, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Vern Tomlinson was born August 11, 1922 in Lesley, Arkansas to Ernest Tomlinson and Florence Williams-Tomlinson. He moved to the Chelsea area in 1928 where he attended school. He worked for years on the family farm to help ensure that the family could get by. During World War II, Mr. Tomlinson worked on bombers at McDonnell-Douglas in Tulsa. Later, in 1967 Mr. Tomlinson moved to Tulsa where he owned and operated his own auto parts supply business called Dealer's Supply. Mr. Tomlinson was always a hard working man and a loving person. Mr. Tomlinson is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Edison of Oklahoma City, Nadeen Hester and her husband Cecil of Nowata, and Hester Grissom of Nowata; by one brother, Chester Tomlinson and his wife Billie of Tulsa; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
