Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Vernon Leon Landes, 88, passed away Saturday, March 17th, 2018 at his home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was born June 26th, 1929 in Lucien, OK, to Walter and Hazel (Snyder) Landes. He grew up in Watova, Oklahoma, then he went to serve his country in the U.S. Army. After being discharged from the Army he moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he was employed at, Philips Petroleum Co. Research Center as a maintenance supervisor in the oil and gas field. He married Betty Lee Brooks, December 25, 1949 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Vernon enjoyed his position as the family eldest. He was a Good Sam Camping Club Member, there wasn't a time he didn't want to go camping and he loved being outdoors. He was an avid donor with Red Cross Blood Drives in which he has donated over thirty gallons of blood in his life time. He was an active member at the First Church of God in Nowata, Oklahoma. He really was fond of John Deere tractors, especially when they were running. After Betty passed away he later married Una Belle (Ireland) Landes. Vernon loved his family and friends. Vernon is survived by his three children; Sharon Justus and her husband (Robert) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Brenda Morrison and her husband (John) of Carthage, Missouri and Donna Mickelson, and her husband (Kurtis) of Falkville, Alabama, and his five step-children Marcia Munkirs and husband Paul of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Dale Lein and wife Kaye of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Neal Lein and wife Cindy of Casper, Wyoming, Kelvin Lein and wife Robyn of Omaha, Nebraska, Janeice Lynch and husband Troy of Newcastle, Wyoming; Two sisters; Martelle Hemphill of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Waldeen Harper and her husband (Percy) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and one brother Kenneth Landes and his wife (Drue) of Minco, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; thirteen great- grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends. Vernon is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Hazel (Snyder) Landes; One brother; Marion Landes and One sister, Cleta Mae Moomaw. Vernon will be missed by all who knew him.
