Violet Mae Hopkins, 85 year old former Ketchum resident, died Thursday March 15, 2012 at the Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born December 31, 1926 in Ketchum to Oscar and Mary Pool. Mae was married to Johnnie P. Hopkins on April 26, 1943 in Martinez, California, he preceded her in death in 1996. She had worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone for several years. Mae was a member of the Baker Church of Christ east of Ketchum. She enjoyed the life of Grand Lake and going to the senior citizens center. The family includes: her daughter, Carol Hirtzel and husband Carl of Oklahoma City; a brother Odie Pool and wife Mildred of Bend, Oregon; a sister, Reba Fraser and husband James of Concord, California; grandchildren, Jameson Hirtzel and wife Jennifer of Tulsa, John Dwiggins of Medina, Ohio, and Tyler Hirtzel of Edmond, Oklahoma; one great-grandchild Maddox Hirtzel of Tulsa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and eight siblings. The funeral service will be held, Monday March 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Lewis Bunch officiating. Interment will follow at the Ketchum Cemetery.
