Virgil Glenn Jones, 86, of rural Welch, Oklahoma, passed away at his home Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2023.
Glenn was born in Nowata County, Oklahoma on January 16, 1937, to Guy Virgil Jones and Nellie (Morrow) Jones and was a lifelong resident of Craig County, graduating from Labette County High School. After high school Glenn entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in August of 1965. On November 21, 1969, Glenn married the love of his life, Vada Jerene Powell. Vada preceded him in death on January 30, 2001. He was a machinist for Funk Manufacturing, which later became John Deere Industries. Glenn retired from John Deere and devoted his time to farming.
Glenn was of the Christian faith and was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #1 in Oklahoma City. He liked to build things in his shop, where he manufactured trailers and furniture, as well as work his cattle on his ranch. Glenn loved his family.
Survivors include his son, Neil Jones and his wife, Tammy of Welch; three grandchildren, Tabitha Headley of Coffeyville, Kansas, Ashley Headley of Wynona, Oklahoma and Brittnay Kastler and her husband, Leroy of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma and five great-grandchildren, Paislie, Amelia, Edison, Isaiah, and Raigan. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
