Virginia R. Elliott, 73 year old Vinita resident died early Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. She was born December 15, 1937 in White Oak to Clifford and Mildred F. (Wallace) Copeland. Virginia was a graduate of White Oak High School. She married Carl J. Elliott on October 19, 1957 in Miami; Carl preceded her in death on December 14, 2009. Virginia had worked at the Munsingwear plant while it was in Vinita, after that she was a self-employed cake decorator. She was a long time Craig County Fair Board member and a member of the Cobb School Restoration Committee. Virginia was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Vinita. The family includes: her daughters, Terri Billen and husband Larry of Claremore, Jerri McComb and husband Mike of Edmond; grandchildren, Marcie Billen and Kendra Briggs and her husband William; great-grandchild Samuel Briggs; and a brother Bobby Copeland of Altus. She was preceded in death by her husband, and parents. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening September 15, 2011 the Luginbuel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Vinita with Rev. Skip McClain officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Vinita. Friends may give to the Craig County Community Center Building Fund, P. O. Box 198, Vinita, OK 74301.
