Virginia Johnson

April 24, 1914 — August 9, 2014

ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK - Virginia Louise (Lauck) Johnson, 100, and a long time resident of Bartlesville, passed away early Saturday morning, August 9, 2014 at Jane Phillips Medical Center. Virginia was born April 24, 1914 to Isaac Streight Lauck, IV and Louise (McGill) Lauck at Willard, Kansas. She was reared in the Willard area and after graduating high school began teaching in a rural, one-room school near Willard. Virginia met L.M. "Johnny" Johnson and the couple were wed on June 26, 1939 at Topeka, Kansas. The couple moved to Phillips, Texas and lived there until 1947, when Mr. Johnson was transferred to by Phillips Petroleum to Bartlesville. In 1964, Virginia took a job in key punch entry with Phillips and she retired in 1973. The Johnsons continued to make their home in Bartlesville and Johnny preceded his wife in death on August 2, 1997. Virginia was an active member of First United Methodist Church (now Bartlesville First Church). She visited the shut-ins regularly and volunteered for CONCERN and a Docent for Woolaroc. Virginia loved to play bridge and was a member of two bridge clubs. She is survived by a daughter, Janice Nitzschke of Bartlesville; one son, Douglas Johnson and his wife, Loretta of Raleigh, NC; five grandchildren, Michael Nitzschke and his wife, Alyson Jones, Stephanie Burns and her husband, Chris, Patrick Nitzschke and his wife, Angela, Scott Iekel - Johnson and his wife, Susan and Ann Travis and her husband, Rob and eleven great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; by a son-in-law, John Nitzschke and a brother, Isaac Streight Lauck, V.
