Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. Walter Herman Brunson, 87 year old resident of Jay, Oklahoma, passed away on February 3, 2017 at Freeman West in Joplin, Missouri. Walter was born on March 21, 1929 in Merced, California. He was the son of Manilla (Whalen) and Daniel A. Brunson. Walter was a veteran of WWII, and proudly served in the United States Navy. Walter worked as a Lead Man for the Soule' Steel Company. He later spent twenty-one years insuring the safety of the children in the Jay Public Schools driving a school bus. Walter is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lillian Ethel (Branham) Brunson of the home, daughter Sharon Nunez of Las Vegas, NV, son Steve Brunson of Las Vegas, NV, step sons Fred O. Sexton of Colorado Springs, CO, Jerry D. Sexton of Grove, OK and William L Sexton and wife Jackie of Fordland, MO. Walter is also survived by a brother Elbert Brunson and his wife Karen of Las Vegas, NV and sister Carol Searcy and her husband Jim of Tulare, CA. Walter was blessed with ten grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Buford Brunson, James Brunson, Daniel Brunson and sister Thelma English. A visitation will be held from 5-7PM, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Jay, OK. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Mt. Hermon Church with Mr. Steve Stenzil and Pastor Jeremy Colvard officiating. Walter will be laid to rest in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
