Walter W. Heinrich Sr., age 81, a resident of Bartlesville died Wednesday April 11, 2007, at Heritage Villa Nursing Center. Walter William Heinrich, Sr. passed away April 11, 2007. He was born June 5, 1924 in Kansas City, MO to Jacob Wilhelm Heinrich and Pauline Caroline Walter Heinrich. Walt graduated from Northeast High School and began attending Kansas City Junior College before joining the U.S. Army in 1942. He was stationed in the tank Corps at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and was later sent to Michigan where he began attending Michigan State University prior to being sent to the Pacific theatre where he was a communications technician in the Philippines. After Walt was honorably discharged from the Army he returned to Independence, MO where his parents had moved to and began attending the University of Kansas in Lawrence and graduated with an electrical engineering degree. In 1948 Walt was hired by Phillips Petroleum Company and went to work in Borger, TX. He and Dorothy Ann Pryor were married September 19, 1948 in Missouri and then returned to Borger where they lived until Walt was transferred to Bartlesville in 1953. Walt was an insulation expert and traveled to plants and refineries all around the world inspecting tanks and equipment for proper insulation. Walt and Dottie have 3 children. Karen and Barbara were born in Borger, TX while Walter William Heinrich, Jr. (Bill) was born in Bartlesville. Walt was very active in Redeemer Lutheran Church as Treasurer in both Borger and in Bartlesville. He organized the first Boy Scout Explorer Troop in Bartlesville and had the first Boy Scout Troop that met at the Lutheran Church. He and Dottie transferred their church affiliation to Caney, KS where Walt served again as Treasurer for many years. Walt was an avid golfer and bowler and has won both the City Golf Tournament and was the City Bowling Champion. Walt was also a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials and with Dottie at his side was able to travel all over the country and several trips overseas. Walt was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Pauline and one Great Grandchild Katelyn Nichole Feary. He leaves his wife Dottie and three children Karen Ann Feary Rogers and her husband Tom of Oklahoma City, Barbara Jon Heinrich of Tulsa and son Walter William Heinrich, Jr. of Tulsa. Three grandchildren, John William Feary and his wife Stephanie, Walter James Feary and his wife Candace and Jennifer Ann Feary. 4 Great Grand Children, William Blake James Feary, Cassidy Katherine Nichole Feary, Ian Michael Feary and Emma Nichole Feary, brother Elmer Jon Heinrich and his wife Sue of Independence, MO and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. A memorial has been established with the Lutheran Hour Ministries and those who wish to contribute may do so in lieu of flowers to the Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, Missouri 63141-8557. Memorial services for Mr. Heinrich will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2007 at the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home. Pastor Dale Doerr of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Caney, KS will preside over the services. Funeral services are under the direction of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home.
