Wanda Belle Hendren, 88 year old Grove, Oklahoma resident passed away Tuesday December 6, 2011 in Grove, Oklahoma. Wanda was born on July 1, 1923 on a farm near Sulphur Springs, Arkansas, to Oscar and Belle (Richardson) Youngs, Wanda graduated from Grove High school as the salutatorian on May 16, 1941. Wanda, worked for some time as a legal secretary before owning and operating along with her husband the OTASCO store in Grove, Oklahoma for 24 years before retiring in 1984. She was also a charter Member of Carr Baptist Church near Grove, Oklahoma. She loved to cook and even published a cookbook with many of her favorite recipes. Wanda also enjoyed sewing and traveling. Wanda is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; sister, Velma Youngs; and grandson, Daniel McCord. Wanda leaves many loving memories with her family, son, Kent Hendren and wife Lynn, of Grove, Oklahoma; daughters, Cheryl Marshall of Grove, Oklahoma, and Karen McCord and husband Marty of Altamont, Kansas; brother, Jack Youngs, and wife Elaine of Cable, Ohio; and sisters, Oneeta Berry and husband Joe, of Grove, Oklahoma, and Jo Ann Buckett and husband Sam, of Grove, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Jackie Cooper, Michael Marshall, Michelle Martin, Jill McAbee, Aaron McCord, Alisha McCord, and Katie Hendren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral Services for Wanda will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Wann Cemetery near Southwest City, Missouri. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
