Wanda Mccarty

Wanda Lou McCarty passed away at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, OK on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the age of 81. Wanda was born November 14, 1932 in Graford, TX, the daughter of the late Gerald and Olive (Powell) Hamilton. Wanda graduated high school from Dumas, TX and after her schooling she married Thurman McCarty on August 11, 1951 in Clayton, NM. The couple resided in Dumas, TX until moving to Wichita, KS. The couple left Wichita in 1958 and moved for a short time to Dallas, TX until making their permanent home in Grove, OK in 1964. The couple managed the Honey Creek Resort for four years then Wanda worked various jobs in Grove including the Sports Center, Farrier's, Wal-Mart, and Ramsay's. Later Wanda was employed for 13 years with the Grove Public school system as a cook. Wanda enjoyed shopping, crafts, crocheting, traveling and researching genealogy, but most of all she loved to be with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter Sharon Dillinger; and one brother Junior Hamilton. She is survived by her husband of 62 years Thurman McCarty of the home; one son Larry McCarty and his wife Rhonda of Miami, OK; seven grandchildren: Stacy Burleson and her husband Jack, Clayton Dillinger and his wife Tawyna, Keith Dillinger, Tommy McCarty and his wife Crystal, Emilie Brooks and her husband Chris, Kamalie Wagen and her husband Jason, and Trenton McCarty and his wife Randi; twelve great grandchildren: Josie Hart and her husband J.D., Zachary Burleson, Autumn Dillinger, Addison McCarty, Mot McCarty, Draco McCarty, Atticus McCarty, and Charlie Jo McCarty, Gentry, Mason, Andrew Cameron, and Allison Dillinger; one great-great grandchild Ireland Rose Hart; one brother Thomas Hamilton and his wife Betty of Weatherford, TX; one sister Nancy Vaughn and her husband Billy of Fort Smith, AR; one sister-in-law Kathryn Hamilton of Dumas, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be held at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 10AM with Pastor David Knox, presiding. Cremation will follow the service. The family will greet friends on Sunday from 3PM to 5PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK.
