William Howard Beyen, Jr., 84, of Skiatook, passed away July 19, 2014 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. He was born November 27, 1929 in Newton, Iowa to Stella Francis (Hare) and William Howard Beyen, Sr. William‘s early education was in Arizona and in 1945 his family moved to Nowata where he was a 1947 graduate. On July 19, 1949 William joined the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. After the Army he worked his way up in the aerospace system until he became an Aerospace engineer. He was a member of the Elks Club, Moose Lodge, and Singles Squares, a square dancing club. He enjoyed square dancing and working puzzles. William traveled all over the United States and Mexico with some of his friends from the Elks. He loved to swim and was very good at it. He was the first alternate for the Olympics in the breaststroke just after graduating from High School. He loved his children and grandchildren and would spend all the time he could attending the grandchildren's sporting and other events. He will be missed by all who knew him. William is survived by a son, Mike Beyen and his wife Sherrie of Skiatook; seven grandchildren, Dallas Beyen, Kendra Beyen, Billy Beyen, Cody Beyen, Josh Beyen, Rachel Trapp, Mary Kerr and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jim Beyen and John Beyen; a brother, Wallace Beyen; a sister, Helen Bennett.
