William Clopton

William Howard Clopton, age 81 and a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away at 11:45 AM, January 22, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 26, at the Oak Park United Methodist Church. Rev. Don Jones will be the officiant. Interment will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, at the Blakely Cemetery in Madison, Kansas. Rev. Bob Robison will officiate at the graveside. Military Rites will be accorded Bill at the graveside by "The Big Red 1", Funeral Detail from Ft. Riley, Kansas. William Howard "Bill" Clopton was born June 8, 1933 at Hamilton, Kansas. He was the son of Charles Roy and Bertha Ellen (Martin) Clopton. Bill was a graduate of the Madison, Kansas High School. He served his Country in the United States Army and was headquartered in Seoul, Korea. He served in the 8th Army Honor Guard and later in the 8th Army Color Guard. He received his honorable discharge with the rank of Specialist First Class. He and the former Kay Arlene Perry were united in marriage on December 9, 1956 in Madison, Kansas. Bill and Kay made their home in Bartlesville where he was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company for thirty-six years on various assignments, 22 of those years were in Bartlesville. He retired from the Company in 1988. Bill was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men and the Green Country Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, volunteering, yard work, working with the Boy Scouts and he was an avid KU basketball and football fan. Most importantly, he enjoyed activities with his family. Bill is survived by his wife, Kay, of the home; his children, Theresa Lynne Medina and her husband, Thomas, of Bartlesville, William Ray Clopton of Highland Village, Texas and Michelle Kay Foltz and her husband, Donald, of Emporia, Kansas; grandchildren, Christopher Medina, Stephanie Ventura, Whitney Foltz, Madison Clopton and Ashton Clopton and great-grandchildren, Kaylee Ventura, Kiana Ventura, Kaiden Ventura and Cameron Foltz. He is also survived by three sisters, Shirley Schlueter of Richardson, Texas, Melba Turner of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Martha Martin of Pocatello, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and two sisters.
