William Dillon

April 16, 1926 — October 6, 2008

William (Jack) Dillon, native of Vinita, passed on Monday, October 6, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital West, Lake St. Louis, Missouri. He was born April 16, 1926, the first son of William O. Dillon, Sr. and Virginia Puckett Dillon. He was brought up in Vinita and received his early education there. He attended High School and graduated from Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore and later attended Oklahoma University. Jack returned to Vinita to join his father in running the family business, Vinita Hay & Grain Company, and continued there for many years as owner after his fathers' death. In later years he was associated with Pillsbury, Inc. as a grain merchandiser/buyer. On September 5, 1949 he was united in marriage to Jeanne A. Christian at the First Methodist Church in Vinita. They recently celebrated their 59th anniversary. Jack was active in the community, serving several terms on the school board. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club and International Lions Club, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Vinita for over 50 years. Jack was an avid golfer, playing often and well until just a month before his death. Jack is survived by his wife Jeanne, of the home, daughters Virginia Holt of Wentzville, Missouri, and Marsha Burge of Stephenville, Texas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William O. and Virginia P. Dillon, his brother Gene Dillon and his sister Mary Evans, and infant son, William O. Dillon III. Cremation services were provided by Baue Funeral Home in St. Charles, Missouri; final arrangements are provided by Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. A memorial service celebrating Jacks' life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Vinita with Reverend Bob Johns officiating under the direction of the Luginbuel Funeral Home.
