William Hopwood

Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555 --- William Lee "Billy" Hopwood, 61, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 in Vinita. He was born on June 2, 1953 in Osceola, Nebraska to Kenneth L. and Margery (Schneider) Hopwood. Billy graduated from Vinita High School in 1971. He lived in Tulsa for many years, where he worked at the Tool Box Lounge as a bartender. Billy was hurt in an accident in 2000 and has been disabled since that time. He enjoyed working with stained glass, raising plants, taking care of his pets, especially his birds, and listening to music. Billy had a kind soul and was a real people person and really liked helping people when he could. Preceding him in death were his father Kenneth L. Hopwood, a brother, Michael Hopwood, nieces, Jalee Hoodenpyle and Stephanie Johnson. The family includes: his mother, Margery Hopwood of Vinita, brother, Kenneth Scott Hopwood of Vinita; sisters, Sonja Ann Bailey and husband Kurtis of Ada, Susan Kay Hopwood of Afton; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral will be held on Monday March 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Luginbuel Chapel with Pastor Scott Dickerson officiating. Interment will follow at the McLaughlin Cemetery near Cleora.
