William Loney

Arnold Moore & Neekamp William Robert Ray Loney was born in Rochester, Minnesota on February 12, 1930. After his early education, he became a member of the U.S. Air Force. His wife-to-be, Sylvia, was an Air Force nurse who also served as an Air Force Flight Nurse and of course, it was meant to be, that their paths crossed. After his honorable discharge from the military, Bill became focused on becoming a medical doctor. Bill and Sylvia K. Kochert were united in marriage on December 5, 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and they made their home there while Bill completed his residency. He received his degree in Dermatology and he and Sylvia moved to Bartlesville in 1963. In Bartlesville, Dr. Loney opened his Dermatology office and continued serving the community in that capacity until his retirement. Sylvia preceded Bill in death on April 10, 2003. He had continued his residence in Bartlesville since that time. Bill and Sylvia were longtime members of First Presbyterian Church in Bartlesville. The couple enjoyed traveling over the years and Bill was active in the community as long as his health permitted. For several years, he tutored countless students in the Bartlesville Public School system. Bill was very active in the YMCA Youth Football Program as a coach and member of the Football Committee for over 16 years. Dr. Loney was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Sylvia. He is survived by various nephews and nieces, plus many, many friends, especially in the medical community and his church.
