Mr. William D. "Pinky" Peters, age 87, husband of Mrs. Lee Peters and 57-year resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 2, 2011. William Dennis Peters was born June 28, 1924 in Emporia, Kansas. He was the son of Eugene Peters and Mary Ellen (O'Connor) Peters. He was raised in the Emporia, Kansas area where he also received his early education. He graduated with the Emporia Sr. High School Class of 1942. He furthered his education by attending Emporia State University where he received his BS Degree and also Kansas University for a Post-Graduate Fellowship. William moved to Bartlesville in 1954. He and Miss Lee Volpe were united in marriage in 1956 in Torrington, Connecticut and they returned to make their home in Bartlesville. William was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company where he was Director of Patent & Licensing Acquisitions. He retired from the local company in 1985 after 38 years of loyal service. William was a long-time member of St. John Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer, playing at both Sunset Country Club and Hillcrest Country Club. Lifelong, he was naturally curious, always wanting to learn and see new things and places. In his work for Phillips Petroleum Company, he enjoyed traveling world-wide. He was known as "Pinky" Peters and was always an entertaining story-teller and extremely well-liked by all who knew him. William was preceded in death by his parents; brother, E.J. Peters; and sister, Elizabeth Peters. He is survived by his wife, Lee Peters of the family home; son, William M. Peters and his wife, Susan, of Seattle, Washington; daughters, Beth A. Peters of Dallas, Texas, and Leslie Peters Morgan and her husband, Paul, of Norman, Oklahoma; and sister, Mary Dennis Peters, O.S.B., of Glendora, California; one grandchild, Alex Morgan of Norman; and two nieces and three nephews.
