Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK - 918-253-3222 --- William F. (Bill) Smith 78 year old, Jay, Oklahoma resident, passed away at his home on Friday October 24, 2014. Bill was born January 5, 1936 in Southwest City, MO, to Roscoe and Pearl (Pearson) Smith. He received a Bachelors' degree from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Bill married Deanna (Cantrell) on July 3, 1957. Bill worked in the insurance industry and served his community for many years as a Jay Police Reserve Officer. He was very active in supporting his community in many ways including prior service as the Jay Fire Chief. Bill was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve and was an avid hunter and gunsmith who enjoyed helping other hunters, especially children. He volunteered for many years to teach gun safety to kids at the Game Reserve Youth Hunt. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one son, William Smith and a grandson, Charles Reno. Bill is survived by his wife Deanna of the home, daughter Cheryl Williams and husband Robert of Loveland, Colorado and grandsons Michael Smith and Bryan Smith. Funeral services for Bill will be held at 10:00 am, Monday October 27, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Jay Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Zena Cemetery.
