William Lee Wassom was born on 9-17-1952 to Betty (Burdett) and Edwin "Gene" Wassom Sr. Bill received his education in the Okesa, Nelagoney and Barnsdall Public Schools, graduating with the Barnsdall Class of 1970. He then attended college at NSU in Tahlequah, Ok. Bill made his home in Okesa, living there for most of his life. Bill was employed at United Linen for 42 years. He was planning retirement this month. Bill also ran the Stop Buy in Pawhuska in the 1990's. Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He could be found on the river snagging spoonbill, at Lake Texoma trolling for stripers, or the blue waters in the Gulf of Mexico looking for the next big catch. When he was not in the water he could be found in the tree stand looking for that big buck to cross his path, or out on the golf course. If Bill was not outdoors, that meant that the OU Sooners were playing. Bill enjoyed his hobbies with his close friends as well as teaching his nephews how this was done. In addition to being outdoors, Bill also had a hobby of online shopping and trying all products labeled "As seen on TV". Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Gene, his brother Edwin Wassom "Jr" and sister in law Paula Wassom Remington. Bill is survived by his nephew Earl and wife Laurie Wassom, and great nephews, Kaleb, Luke and Noah Wassom as well as his lifelong friend Bob Warford, and host of other great buddies.
