Willis Dale Mullis, 92 year old rural Chelsea resident, died Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Maplewood Care Center in Tulsa. He was born on March 14, 1918 in Alton, Missouri to John Edward and Ella (Sisco) Mullis. Willis was married to Marie Miller on April 20, 1938 in Vinita; she preceded him in death on February 9, 1997. He owned and operated a cattle ranch in the Chelsea area many years. Willis was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Vinita Church of Christ. The family includes; his children, Lester Mullis and wife Wilma of Chelsea, Mary McGuire and husband David of Tulsa, Carlotta Senters and husband Tom of Nowata, Sherman Mullis and wife Lynnette of Altus, Brent Mullis and wife Dorothy of Chelsea, Kathy Stroyick and husband Jerry of Sulphur; a brother Nelson Mullis of Muldrow; nineteen grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, George Henry Mullis; three brothers, Malcom, O.J. and George Henry Mulllis, Sr., two sisters, Louella Grubb and Olla Youtsey. The funeral will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Vinita Church of Christ, with Pastor James Woodall officiating. Interment will follow at the Chelsea Cemetery.
