Wilma Leola (Miller) Walker passed from this life into Heaven on October 23, 2009 at the Integris Grove General Hospital six days before her 99th birthday. Wilma was looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday next year. She was born on October 29, 1910 in Fairland, Oklahoma to James C. Miller and Ella Mae (Dennis) Miller. She was united in marriage to Haskell C. Walker of Grove on July 9, 1930 in the Methodist Church, Grove. Born unto this union were two daughters, Neva Gault and Martha Holt. The family that will miss her dearly includes her daughters Neva Gault and her husband Jim of Grove, Martha Holt and her husband Roger of Cherryvale, Kansas. She was lovingly called "Grandmother" or "Nu Nu" by seven grandchildren: Mike, Jerry, and John Gault all of Grove, Debra McCormick, Yates Center, Kansas, Guy Holt, Cherryvale, Kansas, Lori Carpenter, Independence, KS, Chad Holt, Cherryvale, Kansas, thirteen Great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren. Her mother and father and beloved husband, Hack Walker preceded her in death. Wilma attended her first year of grade school in Fairland, Oklahoma, before moving to Grove. She was Salutatorian of her senior graduating class in 1927. Many people remember Wilma from her many years of working at the Pat Hurst Grocery Store. In September 2007 she was the Grand Marshall for the Grove Pelican Festival Parade. She treasured her membership in the Tsa-La-Gi Indian Club and her life long membership at the First Christian Church in Grove. She loved being in the Gospel Gals Group. Visitation will be held Monday, October 26, 2009 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the First Christian Church of Grove with Reverend Ray Clanton officiating and Dr. Wayne Shaw. Interment will follow at the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove. Casketbearers will be Mike Gault, Jerry Gault, John Gault, Guy Holt, Chad Holt, Ron McCormick and Jeff Carpenter. The family has asked that memorial donations be sent to the Tsa-La-Gi Indian Club in care of the funeral home.
