Wilson Robert "Dee" Harrington passed from this life Saturday, January 6, 2007 at his home in Delaware. He was 90. Wilson Robert Harrington was born August 31, 1916 in Childers, Oklahoma to Edward Harrington and Elizabeth Fink-Harrington. "Dee", as he would come to be known, grew up in the Childers area and as a young man, he enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during WWII building bridges. He returned to this area where he began his work in farming. Mr. Harrington raised some cattle and was well known for the bountiful gardens that supplied many friends and neighbors with numerous fresh vegetables and numerous different berries and fruits. Mr. Harrington loved to read and keep informed on the current headlines from across the country. He was also a devout member of the New Life Assembly of God in Nowata. Surviving Mr. Harrington are three sisters, Jewell Martin of Ocala, Florida, Bertha Lafferty of Overland Park, Kansas, and Ruth Elliott of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and special friends, Wathena and Johnny Monroe. Mr. Harrington was preceded in death by his parents; by four brothers, Alvie R. Harrington, Clarence L. Harrington, William E. Harrington, Charles E. Harrington; and by three sisters, Vera Earl, Myrtle Wilkett, and Lesta Smith.
