Winton Stuart Parker, 92 year old Grove resident, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2020. Winton was born in Calora, NE on November 23, 1927 to Edwin Parker and Emma (Wimple) Parker-Harris. He served in the United States Marine Corps as well as the Army. Growing up in Boulder, he earned his bachelor’s degree in geology from the University of Colorado. Later working for Core Laboratories Inc. 35 years as a petroleum engineer. Through his job, his family spent 22 years in Alaska ultimately retiring in Oklahoma for the last 30 years. He was united to the love of his life, Billie Faye Jackman on October 16, 1955. They were blessed to spend 65 wonderful years together.
Winton stayed involved with various interest, hobbies, and volunteer work. He enjoyed rock hunting, reading, puzzles, square dancing, round dancing, salmon fishing, and his most favorite, playing bridge. His volunteer work, Winton was instrumental in the creation and early management of the Hickory Grove Fire Dept. and Water District 10 here in Delaware County. He was a mentor in the YES Program, helping troubled kids, as well as a Cherry Red volunteer. An active member of First United Methodist Church of Grove Winton was always quick to lend a hand.
Survivors include his loving wife, Billie Parker, daughters: Sandra Parker of Grove and Cynthia Williams and husband Duane of Laramie, WY, 4 grandchildren: Travis Williams and wife Rachel, Amber Updike and husband Justin, Stuart Williams and Robert Williams, and 5 great grandchildren: Jacob Williams, Caleb Williams, Paisley Updike, Oakley Updike, and Jameson Updike. He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, and 3 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the First United Methodist Church Backpack Program, 1005 Leisure Rd, Grove, OK 74344.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 29, 2020 at the Worley Luginbuel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Hamill officiating. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com
