Woodrow Oliver Jordan, 93 year old Nowata resident passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Nowata Nursing Center. He was born June 9, 1918, in Purcell, Oklahoma, to William and Hattie Jordan. On August 28, 1941 he married Dorles Huff in Nowata. Woodrow loved to raise animals including horses, goats, and chickens. He loved the outdoors and talked about going to the river, where Oologah Lake now stands, to fish and swim. He was also an avid coon hunter. Woodrow worked for Nowata County as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement. He will be missed by all. Preceding Mr. Jordan in death are his parents, William and Hattie Jordan, brothers George, and James Jordan, sisters Hettie Jordan, Sib Jordan, Doak Jordan and Pat Jordan. Surviving Mr. Jordan are his wife Dorles, of the home, two sons, Ray Jordan, and wife Sue, of Tulsa, Billy Jordan, of Pearland, Texas, a daughter Carolyn Benham, and husband John, of Avoca, Arkansas, a sister, Berta Jordan, grandchildren Todd Benham, Jerry Jordan, Jeffery Jordan, Doug Jordan, Melissa Caywood, Amy Magdeburg, and Jennifer Gilbert, many other relatives and a host of friends.
